As this blog gets more active in reaching its potential, it will initiate efforts to publicize gay, Asian male (GAM) social and community-building events. Here's our first stab:
This weekend is Pride in Atlanta, with a webisode viewing party at the popular Burkhart's club at 1482 Piedmont Ave. NE this Friday, Oct. 11 at 6:30 p.m. (7 p.m. showing). Admission is free. The sponsor, GAM-TV (www.gamTVusa.com) is showing its latest webisode: "Panda: Tale of a Gay Asian Bear." The other weekend events include its annual gay soiree at the Aquarium Saturday and its Pride Parade on Sunday. Atlanta Asians and Friends will have a Halloween Party on Sat., Nov. 2. Look for their Facebook page for more information.
The following weekend, Asians and Friends Chicago (www.afchicago.org) is having a Masquerade Party and Calendar Photo Shoot on Sat. Oct. 19. Any party guest interested can possibly be in its 2014 Calendar (to raise money for its Pride float). Wear a costume or fun things will be there to try on. Let the photo shoot begin! The fun starts at 7:30 p.m. at @mosphere, 5355 N. Clark in Chicago. Admission is free but a $5 donation to help with appetizers is appreciated. The group is also planning an Oktoberfest outing at the brand new Haufbrauhaus in Rosemont, Ill., on Thurs., Oct. 17. Visit their website for more details.
Finally, gay Asian film director H.P. Mendoza is having his "cult classic" film "I Am a Ghost" showing on Oct. 29 at the famous Castro Theater in San Francisco. Visit his Facebook page for more details.
Return to our blog for more community information, opinion and insight into the GAM experience in the coming days and weeks.
